Dictatorship
Dictatorship is a leader in charge of a country or state with only a few other sources of political power. Dictatorship is a contrast to democracy and totalitarianism. Dictatorship is defined by Merriam-Webster. The ideas on the left wing dictatorship are very modern. They rely on utopias of social equality. On the other hand, right wing dictatorship uses force of police and troops. Dictatorship has become a difficult problem that has faced the markers of American foreign policy. It has been the conflict between the lust to encourage democracy abroad and the need to protect perceived American interests around the world. [1] An example of a dictatorship is the Philippines under the control of Ferdinand Marcos.
Russian Revolution VS Animal Farm: Dictatorship
Russia was a feudal dictatorship. In the 20th century, Russia was ruled by the Tsar. The society were in depression as people suffer in poverty and were oppressed by the Tsar, they have no direction and hope. In March 1917, the people revolted demanding for “bread and peace”. The Tsar then gave up his throne and he was executed by Bolshevik soldiers in a firing squad with his family. Lenin formed Soviet Union and intend to get Russia out of war and improve the lifestyle of the citizens. Lenin later on takes power in November 1917. At that time, there are two groups, The whites led by Leon Trotsky and The Reds with the Communists. They disagree with each other’s ideas and fought for 3 years. The Whites then surrendered in 1921, leaving the Communists to control Russia. After the death of Lenin in 1924, Stalin became the next leader. He began to collect small farms and generalize them to government’s property. He punished peasants who refused to give out their own farm by shooting them or take them to jail. Life was not better than before, people live in depression due to the humorous amount of work with little salary and was suffered under Stalin’s rule. In the novel Animal Farm, manor farm was ruled by Mr and Mrs Jones, they forced the animals to work hard and gave them little food in return. The animals suffered in despair as they see no light in their life. Animals soon start their plan for revolution under the leading of Old major. Mr and Mrs Jones soon gave up the farm. Snowball wish to improve the life of the animals, however Napoleon does not agree and fought with Snowball. Snowball was soon chased out of the farm by the loyal dogs of Napoleon. Slowly Napoleon became the leader of the farm and life was not better than before. Napoleon made transactions with humans and violate the seven commands. Animals are panic for their life under the rule of Napoleon. From here, the rise of dictatorship after the Russian revolution and the farm revolution did not improve life of citizen but still allowing citizens to live in darkness and the oppress of the leader.
